RCMP Blood Task Force lays another charge

OTTAWA , February 25, 2003 — One additional charge of criminal negligence has been laid against suspects charged on November 19, 2002 in the RCMP’s tainted blood investigation.


Because of new evidence, another charge has been laid against Dr. Michael Rodell, Dr. Roger Perrault, Dr. Wark Boucher, Dr. John Furesz and the Armour Pharmaceutical Company.


Following a five-year examination of Canada’s blood distribution system, a number of individuals and organizations were charged with several counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm under Section 221 of the Criminal Code.


The charges were related to decisions made in Canada’s blood distribution system from 1980 to 1990.
